 3. Fairfield Arts & Convention center, 2007
200 N. Main Street

The new Fairfield Arts and Convention Center opened in December 2007.  See details on their website, www.fairfieldacc.com.

Although it is modern, the design complements the historic courthouse across the street.  Energy efficient materials and methods were used in its construction, following LEEDS certification guidelines.

The photo shows how the courthouse is reflected in the front doors.  Scroll down to see more photos.

Walk around to the west side to see the "Jigsaw Puzzle" Fairfield Mural.  It was created by Colorado native Eleanor Yates and assisted by several artists from Fairfield.

The Fairfield arts & Convention Center is the home of the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, the first building in the United states to be named for the celebrated composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim.  There are only two more named for Stephen Sondheim, one in New York City, and one in London, England.  (Photo Sept 2008)
