 3. Fairfield Arts & Convention Center

200 N. Main Street (built 2007)

The new Fairfield Arts and Convention Center opened in December 2007.  See details on their website, www.fairfieldacc.com.

Although it is modern, the design complements the historic courthouse across the street.

The photo below shows how the courthouse is reflected in the front doors.

Energy efficient materials and methods were used in its construction, following LEEDS certification guidelines.

The FACC is the home of the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, the first building in the United states to be named for the celebrated composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim.  Only two other buildings are named for Stephen Sondheim, in New York City and London, England.

Walk around to the west side of the building to see the "Jigsaw Puzzle" mural.

The "Jigsaw Puzzle" mural on the west wall of the Stephen Sondheim Center, an ArtLife Society Project. It was created by Colorado native Eleanor Yates and assisted by several artists from Fairfield.
