Fairfield's Central Park, page 2

Look around the Square....

Have a look around the square. Although many of the buildings have had their facades changed through the years, the skyline is remarkably similar to how it appeared around 1900.

A building boom in the 1890's caused all the frame buildings to be replaced by brick by 1913.

Sadly many of the pressed-tin cornices have been stripped away or covered up. See more photos of the square.

On the north side of the square, the three-story building with the turret has changed very little, and is unusual because few commercial buildings were built in the Queen Anne style.  See photos including the Queen Anne building.

Central Park is the site of the monthly Fairfield First Friday's. December brings ceremonies, concerts and dance performances, brightly lit with holiday decorations. And Santa's Hut. See festival photos.
